The Brain Bank
The Brain Bank is the largest study conducted on the Tel Aviv University campus.
The study consists of a single session that lasts an hour and a half.
This interactive study includes several stages and is completely voluntary.
First of all, thank you for volunteering!
We hope you enjoy the study and the journey.
Together, we can build a better tomorrow!

Brain Data

The Tel Aviv University Brain Database contains a combination of brain data, physiological information, and personal details.
The brain data is obtained through a research MRI scan, a non-invasive procedure that does not involve contrast agents. This type of MRI scan is safe (free of ionizing radiation), and is collected in a single session.
We will contact you and schedule your MRI scan only after we verify your eligibility. Your safety is our top priority, and it is our responsibility to ensure that you do not experience any discomfort during your entire visit to the university's imaging center.
The scan is expected to take approximately one hour. During this time, it is essential for you to remain still and focused. Animated films will be shown during the scans for your entertainment.
The series of scans will include both structural and functional imaging, allowing us to measure your brain connectivity.
We want to emphasize that the scans are non-clinical and cannot be considered a substitute for clinical scans. Therefore, you are required to complete a health declaration confirming that you have no neurological history.
Physiological Data
As our brain function and anatomy are influenced by our physiological state, we will conduct a series of quick and non-invasive tests to measure your body composition. This will give us valuable insights into your physical health. Afterward, you will receive
a report summarizing the findings from the body composition analysis.

Hand Grip
A quick test is conducted by firmly squeezing the digital hand grip with your dominant hand for a few moments.
From this test, we can assess grip strength as well as the strength of the palm muscles.

Body Composition
Body composition measurement is done by standing still on the SECA device for afew seconds.
After this, a quick analysis of the body composition is performed.
You will receive a detailed report outlining your body fat levels, muscle strength, and more.

Blood Pressure
Blood pressure is measured using a digital device that inflates a cuff that applies external pressure to the arm's artery. The pressure in the cuff is then gradually released until blood flow in the artery is restored. During this test, both systolic and diastolic blood pressure will be measured.
Database Questionnaires
The Israeli society is heterogeneous and diverse, characterized by a fusion of many religions and communities.
Each of these communities differs significantly in various aspects of its cultural identity.
The mosaic of Israeli society offers tremendous potential for examining how interpersonal differences are reflected in personality, character, habits, and even brain development.
To facilitate this research, our team has created a comprehensive personality questionnaire that covers consumption habits, eating preferences, hobbies, background and origin, socioeconomic status, area of residence, political views, and more.
Our goal is to include participants from all different cultures within Israeli society in our database. This will enable us to investigate what a healthy Israeli brain looks like and establish a comparative basis for clinical situations.
We invite you to help us build the Israeli Brain Database.
